After spending all the money on replacing components, you would have been better off replacing the monitor with a new one.

Sounds moronic to ask, but sometimes it's the little things we miss: have you tried tampering with all the cables? (behind the monitor, not just at the graphics card)
Checked any of the monitor settings by bringing up it's menu ('OSD')? The brightness may be turned down or the resolution or refresh rate (in hertz) may be set incorrectly {thus have a play about with these settings}.

Otherwise, I suggest just buying a new monitor (I can't believe you didn't do so in the first place :O ). When monitors bust they tend to bust permanently; only specialist really get them fixed. Unless it's a big widescreen plasma I really wouldn't bother tryna fix the monitor, and just buy a new replacement :)

tut, Why didn't you say so? That changes everything

Have you tried the computer the monitor won't work with, with another monitor? If so, did it work?

Does the computer give one beep after a little while when you switch it on?

Can you hear fans spinning?

Any activity from the case led's?

It does point to the video card.

However, the fact you've bought a new video card and it still doesn't work points to something else.

My guess would be that when the original power supply failed, it's taken the motherboard out with it.

The only way to test is by substitution of different parts I'm afraid.

Do you know the machine's specifications? Which motherboard/cpu/memory/graphics card you have?

Also what power supply if you can find that out.

If it's old it may not be worth trying to repair.

Not a lot of info there I'm afraid.

That's an AGP video card so it is quite an old machine.

If you know what you're doing when it comes to changing motherboards and you know the one 'in the shed' (lol) works then by all means try swapping them over, you have little to lose.

As for all those fonts, they'll be on your hard disk which is very likely ok. You could take that disk out, load it into another computer and transfer all your important data over to that computer.

Where it could be burnt to DVD/CD or transferred to a USB memory stick.

Same goes for you if you bought a new machine, you could almost certainly save all your data.
