Hi. I can not turn my monitor off. I went to control panel and set my
power-save preferences for it to turn off after 10 minutes inactivity, and IT
DOESN'T!! I checked my Bios and the power managment settings are enable. I
updated my video card's driver too and still doesn't turn off.
i don't know what else to do!
Any idea?
Thanks!

Silly statement - why not just switch the monitor off then switch it
back when you need it ?

Silly answer....(I don't know if you are joking or what?!!)

The power-save utility is not working for some reason and the monitor
doesn't turn off, for those who understand what this means, I'm still waiting
for your ideas!
Thanks!

Check for the possibility of some program running. If you find any shut them
down to test. More than likely some Virus program.

You didn't detail whether or not the problem applies for any particular or
all of the power states Stand-by, Hibernation or Off, or confirm that Power
Management of hard disk etc works ok if so enabled. Assuming that power
control of the monitor used to work, would it be of importance for an
assessment of the issue to know of any hardware, drivers, applications,
updates etc installed in the timeframe when you first experienced the problem.

Did you try Safe Mode, to use a minimal set of device drivers and services
or Safe Mode Last Known Good Configuration?

A while ago I read a thread in a News Group where the culprit reported was a
monitor not going "to sleep", and problem turned out to be a mouse pointer
moving by itself in very small steps, thus preventing the PC going to standby!
