I tested the fan out and kept turning it on and off, but I never noticed any
noises anymore.

I found out that my monitor will be 1 year old in about three weeks. I
ordered it on the 31st of March.

lol
You'll hear testiment to most any brand.
Whatever somebody else is using, that'll inevitably be the "brand to Get"

Other than the Proview, which brand do you use?

I decided to unplug it for several days. (Four and a half to be exact) I
decided to give it a try on my spare PC. (eMachines T1090; yes I know,
slow) It seems to be fine now. I've had it running for five hours, and I
haven't had any problems. I'm going to hook it back up to my computer.
Perhaps it just needed to get the "volts" out of it. By the way, I didn't
do anything inside of it, nor did anybody else. Who knows, maybe it was
possibly just a bad connection to the video card. I guess the only thing
that matters is that it SEEMS to be working now. However, I only have the
19" running at an 800x600 screen resolution. When I hook it back up to my
computer, I'm upping it back up to 1480x1120, or whatever the screen
resolution that I use. My video card has a place to create custom screen
resolutions, so I added this one. I wanted just a bit more area on the
screen, but the full 1600x1200 causes the text to be too small. I use an
Nvidia GeForce3 Ti200 that is a little over a year and a half old. Don't
give me opinions on video cards please. I've used several different kinds,
and except for the onboard, they are all fine. The onboard seems limited to
me and not as fast, but I guess I've only used onboard video cards on the
eMachines, three HP's, and two Compaqs. All of them were terrible. I can't
run anything really that relates to video with them other than the OS
itself. Maybe that's changed with more recent cards, but so far, no. I
like both Nvidia and Ati. I find Nvidia is a little more customizeable, but
they are also considerably more expensive. I guess Nvidias also have faster
GPUs supposedly, but I don't really have a preference. I've had good
experiences from both kinds. As far as hard drives, Western Digital. Out
of about 10 of them, only one was a DOA, but I simply took it back and got a
replacement. With Maxtor, I've used three of them. One was three years old
before I started getting HD Failure is imminent on my Mom's computer.
Another didn't even last 7 months. The other one is the same age as the one
with the very early death, and it is still working. With Seagate, the one
and the only one that I have used is in the eMachines. It is about 2 1/2
years old, but the hard drive makes a terrbile whine noise. It started
doing this about a year ago. I don't have the money, so I will wait until
it dies before I intend to replace it. I'm not worried about data loss on
that particular drive because there's not a whole lot to be lost, or a whole
lot that could be lost that I could get off of my primary computer. My
primary computer uses an Athlon XP 2400+ OC'd to 2.2GHz.... the end.

Draining the capacitors may very well have solved the problem for you.
Glad to hear it, hope it continues to work well.
