high pitched whine audio

there is a high pitched whine on my speakers whenever i turn up the
volume..and most times the sound system dosent even work..you can hear
nothing but the high pitched noise. what should i do?

Hello,

1) Make sure your MIC/line in/<stuff that you don't use> is muted in the
volume control..
2) Check for interference. Try switching off wireless devices and see if the
problem persists.
3) Try relocating the speakers and see if it reduces the whine (if yes,
interference)
4) Try connecting ear phones and see if the problem is still there (if not,
it is the speaker problems)
5) Try reseating the sound card in your PC if you are using an add-on card
(requires opening up case)
