Modifying the "Folders" list...

B

Brad Pears

We have a user that wants to be able to use Outlook Express instead of
Outlook in our organization simply because he is used to it from using ait
at home and can "customize" the folders view.

I told him that we are supporting Outlook only and that I would look into a
way to accomplish what he wants within that...

Basically, what he wants is to hide all of the folders in the folders list
such as the Contacts, Calendar etc...) and only be left with the Inbox, Sent
items, Deleted items etc...

I told him to use the Outlook shortcut bar instead but he has many sub
folders within his inbox and he would have to create a shortcut for each
one.

Is there a way to "customize" that folder view at all within the Outlook
2002 client?

Thanks,

Brad

Hmm. Most organisations I've worked for, you use what you're given and
lump it.

Have him choose the Mail View in the Navigation pane. That View will show
only mail folders and not the Calendar, Contacts, Notes, Journal, and Tasks.

Drat. I didn't see the reference to Outlook 2002 in your original message.
I'm referring to an Outlook 2003 feature. The Navigation pane takes the
place of the Outlook bar that's down the left-hand side.

Yes, I did a little research myself and found that same thing after I had
re-posted my question back to you...

Are there any big gains in moving from Outlook 2002 to 2003? I was thinking
eventually this is where we'd be heading anyway but we still have some Win98
clients as well... Guess a mix of 2003 and 2002 clients is ok but would
like to standardize...

Any issues with the 2003 Outlook clients working with an Exchange 2000
server?

Thanks,

Brad

Big gains? The major gain is the ability to use Unicode PSTs. Another
significant gain is the ability to use per-account signatures. The rest of
the changes are, I believe, a matter of personal taste.

I can't answer this.
