Archiving deleted items

Hi I have a friend who uses Outlook alot, when he deletes emails he sometimes wants to view them again but he has that many deleted emails it takes ages to open the deleted folder he says he used to be able to archive his deleted items but Office 2003 wont let him.

Is it possible to archive deleted Items in Office 2003 and if so how????
