modifying programs that start with windows xp

All I am trying to do is stop certain programs from
automatically starting when users log into windows xp.
Someone please help me with this. Thank you! Julie

Click [Start] [Run] [Msconfig] [Startup] tab.
Disable the items.

Go to Start|Run and type "msconfig" (without the quotes). Click the
'Startup' tab. This shows everything that is starting up at boot and the
startup location. You can uncheck these items but it is better to go to the
startup location and eliminate them from there. Also occasionally by
right-clicking the icons it will give you a Preferences option that you can
go into an uncheck automatic start but if you aren't given that option then
go into msconfig. You won't be eliminating the programs just the automatic
startups.
