My SmartLink 56 Modem failed.
I replaced it with an ESS 56H.
Used CD drivers supplied then updated them from Windows
Updted web site.
Worked fine.
I thought.
I cannot use <Modem Settings> or <V92> icons in Control
Panel.
They tell me that the Modem is not properly installed.
Question is are they looking at the old SmartLink and
were part of its software bundle or are they part of
Windows XP and it the new modem is not installed properly?
If it is the latter what could have gone wrong?
The modem will give Internet access and fax Okay.

Did you uninstall all of the software for the old modem before you installed
the new one? If not, those might be part of the old modem software.

If the new modem is working, I wouldn't bother with the leftovers.
