Modem Issue

I'm running Win XP and each time I try to go online I have
to unplug the phone cable from the modem (internal modem,
came with the PC)or I won't get a dial tone.

Once I do this there is no problem and I can connect ok
but I have to do this each time and it's a bit annoying.

Any ideas?

Hello

Well try replacing your modem it could be defective, or
just intermitting but have it replaced

I would replace the cord and check the wiring first.
