Modem Configuration NOK in WindowsXP

Hello All,

Recently, I upgraded my Home PC (Intel Celeron Based) from WIN98SE
to WINXP. Unfortunately, my modem is no longer detected in WINXP (It
was working fine under WIN98SE).

I tried to remove the modem and then install it again (via
Add/Remove new hardware), tried to update the device driver etc. but
nothing
works.

I have an internal Dax modem connected as a card to a PCI slot in
my mother board. WinXP configures it as connected to COM3 port (My
COM1 port is connected to mouse), but under device manager I find only
COM1 and LPT ports, and no COM3 port. Could this be the problem?

Please help me solve this problem.

TIA,
Senthilraja.

The problem is that your modem is proprietary, non-standard and not
supported under WinXP. Do yourself a favor - for $20usd you can buy a
new pci modem that will come with drivers for XP. Uninstall and remove
the old modem and put in a new one.
