Hi Folks,
I'm scratching my head over this hyperterminal issue and would really appreciate
a clue or two
This problem is specific to my WinXPP box. On my Win2k box, I have no problem
using Hyperterminal to connect directly to a COM port and issue AT commands to a
modem.
Symptoms on the WinXPP box:
***Phone & Modem Options applet in Control Panel shows the modem on COM3.
***From Diagnostics tab of Phone & Modem Options, I can successfully query the
modem.
***Winfax is configured for the modem on COM3 and has no trouble
sending/receiving faxes.
***Using Hyperterminal configured to connect to the modem (not direct to COM3),
I can manually dial phone numbers.
***BUT, using Hyperterminal configured to connect direct to COM3, I can't get
any response from the modem. Even though Hyperterminal properties under ASCII
setup are configured for local echo, keystrokes are not echoed.
I have swapped in a different modem with the same results.
Any thoughts?
TIA
Frank
