Modem choice grayed out when using new connection wizard?

Modem is installed correctly, it is seen in phone and modem options in
control panel as SM56LE-SL V.92 Modem on COM3. I can query the modem under
properties => diag => query and it responds just fine. But when I go to the
Network Connections => New connections wizard => connect to the Internet =>
set up connection manually => CONNECT USING DIAL-UP MODEM is grayed out in
the next window. Why is this happening and how do I fix it?

Probably the Modem is not properly installed

Also check if you have Antivirus or any third party software and disable it.

Tried installing/reinstalling, tried registry fixers. Can't
reinstall XP either inplace upgrade or from scratch because
of "technical" reasons. I am just stuck. Will just hook to
Internet with ethernet/wireless connection and bypass
modem issue.
