MM2

Whenever I attempt to capture video from my camera in the
DV-AVI format, I get an error stating that it was unable
to capture the video. If you look at the MM2 screen, it
appears as though there is not a tape in my camera.
However, the tape automatically rewinds and begins to
play during the attempted capture.

I can capture video without problems in the 320X240 pixel
setting.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Hi there,

It rather sounds as though the necessary codecs are not installed
properly. IF this is the case the solution is fairly easy...

1) Download the FULL versions of DirectX 9.0b and Windows Media Player 9 and
Movie Maker 2
2) Reboot the machine and install DirectX
3) Reboot the machine again and install Windows Media Player
4) Reboot the machine and install Movie Maker.

Rebooting the machine forces the release of any file locks that may be
in place. Do not be tempted to try it and see if it worked half way through,
that may defeat the objective. It IS necessary to download the full versions
of these programs. If you previously updated via the Internet update service
there is a possibility that something failed along the way causing your
present problems.

Good Luck

Best Wishes.....John Kelly
