+++ How to compress avi file while capturing

When capture the entire video from a tape in a DV camera, the avi file is
huge. Is there a way to get it compressed while capturing?

Not if you want the high quality video given to you by capturing as DV-AVI.
If you want a smaller video size then capture as High Quality NTSC/PAL or
one of the other compressed settings.
