MM2 download to computer

How does MM2 decide how to devide/break up a video clip
when loading onto the computer? I shot a video as one
continuous clip without stopping the DV camcorder. When
I loaded the video onto my computer MM2 broke it up into
various (different) sized clips ... no rhyme or reason to
the size of the clips. Does anyone know about this?
