PhotoStory 3 vs MM2 WMV file size

PS3 creates beautiful and small WMV files.

When I then Import into MM2 and render the WMV file size goes up by 5 to 10
times.

e.g.
45 photo PS3 (640x480) - 12.6 MB - default Burns pan and zoom and default
fade transitions
Import to MM2(no editing) ,
Render (Video for local playback - 1.5 Mbps) - 60.1 MB

I've tried various custom profiles (CBR and VBR) with similar or larger
results for equivalent video quality.

Also tried to use a custom profile using the PS3 Windows MediaVideo 9 Image
V2 codec, but can't get it to work (Cannot Complete the Save Movie Wizard-
Cannot save the movie to the specified location) - Sure would like to use
this.

Is there a way to use the extra niceties of MM2 (better titles, clip and
join, more transitions etc) without increasing the file size so much?

Regards, Patrick

I had a similar problem a while back that PapaJohn explained. PS3 is not
saving video, but a series of still images. When you import a PS3 file into
WMM it will convert it to a video stream @ whatever frames per second you
want - hence the much larger file size..

I think...

In other words if you are saving video at 25 frames per second -WMM will
need to save each still image 25 times per second to a WMV...

Let me put it a bit differently.... the panning and zooming of PS3 are
linear motions, so it's pretty easy for the computer to take 2 full pictures
and figure out what the frames between them look like...

but a video has various movements from frame to frame, all in different
directions... the info needed to define is is a bunch more... so the file is
much bigger.
