The little icons to the left of the list of
direcotries/folders within Windows Explorer have
disappeared on me. Has anyone else had this problem or
know how to fix?

Settings didn't save when I rebooted. I had to use the subst command again, and when I do, I get a C:\ drive and an F: drive appearing (they are duplicates). Thanks for your help.

Hi Kathy,

Adaptation for the Article: Needs to be a path not a drive letter, so subst
c: [x]:\. Note backslash converts a drive letter to a path. It must point
to a valid folder as in: c: d:\Windows

This method is just a work-around, now you have 2 paths for the same drive, very confusing and a good solution. I hope this bug is fixed in SP2?
