missing wfwsys.cfg file for Symantec Ghost

Sean

I am creating a mapped drive boot disk for Symantec Ghost
8 (2003), but I am missing one file, wfwsys.cfg. I have
been able to locate all the others I need from various
sources. If anyone can tell me where I can find this, I
would appreciate it. I have already spent over two hours
on this search.

I currently have it running in PC-DOS, but I have lost
some functionality as a result. The Symantec link follows
if you need more details.

Sean (and others) -- Where to find WFWSYS.CFG

Sean --

I realize it has been almost four full years since your original post here, i.e.:

I was experiencing the very same issue and found the hyperlink to your (unresolved) problem following a Google search. I think I have a solution for you (and for anyone else who may come across this arcane topic through a similar search). The short answer is that wfwsys.cfg may be found on the Windows NT Server CD:

WHERE TO GET WFWSYS.CFG (WinNT Server CD)
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/168960

Here are some other URLs I found with information that may be useful:

WFWSYS.CFG EXISTING (IN WFW3.11) IN BOTH STAMPED AND UNSTAMPED FORMS
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/archive/wfw/6_ch13.mspx?mfr=true
(Look in "Other New Features" section near bottom of this page)

HOW TO INSTALL THE MS-DOS CLIENT FILES TO CREATE SYMANTEC GHOST'S DRIVE MAPPING BOOT DISK
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/on-technology.nsf/docid/2004071509294025

In short, go to the "clients\msclient\netsetup" directory on the WinNT Server CD. There you can find a copy of the "wfwsys.cfg" file which will work along with the other files you already have.

Note: All the files mentioned in the "HOW TO INSTALL..." link were also found in the CD's "netsetup" directory; however, the drive mapping boot disk I made using all of these did not work properly on the new computer for which I wanted to create the boot disk -- the ultimate error was something like "out of memory." Fortunately, when I added only the "wfwsys.cfg" file from the CD to the other needed files (which I had obtained elsewhere -- I could look for the link if anyone is interested (I just don't have it handy at the moment)), the new computer (an HP) was able to both successfully boot with the Ghost-created boot disk and subsequently connect to the desired network share.

Best of luck to you all! Let me know if this has helped you.
