Missing Messages in outlook

When invoking the send/receive function in Outlook, the details tab says I am
downloading 3 of 8 messages (just an example) When the download is complete,
I have received maybe 6 of the 8 it said were there. The others are
gone-nowhere to be found. Any ideas what's going on? I have checked my bulk
mail folder on the server and also checked the junk mail folders in Outlook.
I have noticed this happening on multiple PC's with different types of email
accounts configured. Please Help! :)
 
Is there and AntiVirus application scanning email in this picture anywhere?
