Missing graphics after Sasser Patch Download

Guest

I use Windows XP with all the current service and security patches installed (including KB835732 for Sasser)
I am using PowerPoint 2002

Problem: After installing KB835732, some of the inserted graphics slides (i.e., "cut and paste" images from Adobe pdf files) in my PowerPoint presentations are missing. I see an empty box, with a little red box, and the word "adobe" displayed in red. This doesn't happen with all the slides, just with some in what appears to be a random fashion. Another person in my group has seen the same problem

Some of my associates have no problem seeing the inserted "cut and paste" images on their computers that do NOT HAVE the Sasser Patch so the problem doesn't appear to exist with the actual PowerPoint presentation

The problem goes away if I "Uninstall Sasser Patch KB835732" on my computer by using the Windows XP restore funtion
THUS, the problem appears to be caused by the "Sasser Patch KB835732" !!

Any thoughts?? Thanks.

I see mention of problems with EMF images and the security patch at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=840997, so it's possible your
problem might also be related. Since you say that your problem disappears
if you uninstall the Security patch, I would recommend that you call
Microsoft and discuss with them whether the Hot Fix might correct your
problem. A Hot Fix cannot be downloaded and is distributed to customers
only when it is determined to address a specific problem. Since you can
reproduce your problem, you shouldn't be charged for the call.

I think Sonia's got it. As an interim fix, try copying from Acrobat/Reader then in
PowerPoint choose Paste Special, and choose as PNG rather than a straight Paste.
