Missing Fonts/Default Printer

Hi--

I had a similar problem as mentioned in the earlier threads. I installed a
"Generic/Text Only" printer (I use a notebook and don't have a printer) so
that I could use the "print preview" function in Word and Excel. Of course,
the printer I installed apparently was only able to understand the "Courier
10cpi" font, and that was the only font I could use (other than the default
font in each application) in Word, Outlook, and Excel. When I read the
threads from people with similar problems, I removed the printer and regained
my fonts, but now I'm back to where I was before I had no printer installed:
I can't use the "print preview" function. Isn't there a happy medium
somewhere? I don't have (or need) a printer, and thus don't have drivers.
What can I do?

Download a driver for any printer and install it. Word doesn't care if
there's a real printer at the other end.

To add to what Daiya has said, it's a good idea to select the driver for the
printer on which you will ultimately be printing the document (if it's to be
printed). For example, if you're taking it to the office to print, install
the driver for the printer at work. If you're going to use a friend's
printer, use the driver for that. If you'll take it to Kinko's or Office
Depot or the like, find out what printer they use and install that driver.
This will assure that you have a lot fewer surprises when you actually print
it.
