Missing File Shell.dll

A

Al Klayton

All of a sudden, on startup of XP Pro I get the message that the file
Shell.DLL cannot be find. I click OK and things seem to proceed normally. A
search for the file finds it in c:\windows\system. Should it also be in a
startup file somewhere?
Thx,
Al

It should also be in c:\windows\system32. You can copy it there, but
you've prolly got something on your system killing it. Run your
preferred (and recently updated)AV and spyware removal utilities then
see if you can put it back where it belongs by copying it or running
sfc /scannow. (I think that will put it back, not certain though)
