Missing File, Edit, View, bar in windows explorer

My friend has a Dell computer and we changed the target in the Windows
Explorer short cut from " %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe " to "
%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /n, /e, c:\ " so C drive would open expanded.
Now the File, Edit, View, Favorites, Tools, and Help bar is missing.
Can any body help me with this?

Won't work Pete.That's the problem there is no space. No File, edit,
view, tools, help, address bar, no back button no nothing. It goes
from the title bar right to the folder bar. That is a basic
fundamental of windows explorer and I cant understand why it's not
there. It wasn't there before I changed the command so that's not the
problem.

I posted this last March and since then I found a solution. Do the
following...................

SYMPTOMS
When you open Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer you may find that
your Menu bar and/or Tool bar is missing.

CAUSE
For Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer, this behavior is caused by
one or more corrupt values in the Windows Registry

RESOLUTION
WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious
problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system.
Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result
from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your
own risk.

To resolve this problem, edit the registry to remove the corrupt
value(s).

Close all open Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer windows. Start
the Registry Editor (Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT.EXE).

Go to the following Registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar

For Windows Explorer: In the right pane, locate the Explorer sub-key
and open it. In the right pane, locate the ITBarLayout value. Right
click this value and select Delete.

For Internet Explorer: In the right pane, locate the Web browser
sub-key and open it. In the right pane, locate the ITBarLayout value.
Right click this value and select Delete.

Quit Registry Editor.

Open the affected program (Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer) and
verify that you're Menu bar/Toolbar has been restored. If not, close
all open Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer Windows and repeat the
above step. Then locate the Shell browser sub-key, open it and delete
the ITBarLayout value there.

I do wish that with the Community Solutions Content, MS would use a spell
checker and make whatever links that are present live.

Just a couple with dead links. ;-)

Yes. IIRC, that excellent tip (most frequently used) in 2003 or earlier.

Regarding the dead links, shouldn't there be an option in InfoPath?

Beats me about InfoPath, Ramesh.

I don't know what they use to layout the KB articles, but MS Word would work
fine as long as you hit Enter after an actual http hyperlink or edit the
address correctly with Insert Hyperlink.

It just isn't that tough, even I can do it. ;-)

Actually it should be obvious that I do not know anything about the
technical aspects because I have never written an article. All I know is,
the KB template could be a little better and all the articles would look
better. ;-)
