How can I open Win Explorer using hotkeys, without losing my task bar (at the bottom of the screen)

Hi

I'm trying to open up Windows Explorer (Pro SP2)
- on a hotkey,
- with folders visible on the left...
- and starting in a particular folder.

I've managed to create a sort-cut to the folder in question on my
desktop.
I've right-clicked on it and got into its properties, and there I
pasted in the text
%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,
into the "Target" field in (i.e. just before the directory name)
and in the "Short cut key" field I put "Control + Shift + T"

Problem: When I now hit "Control + shift + T", although it does open up

a Windows Explorer window in the right directory - I lose the task bar
unless I hit F11 !

How do I get it to open in normal, maximised mode without me needing
to hit F11 each time (after I hit Control/shift/T)

some hotkey:
key windows+R = open run windows and if you type:
explorer= open the explorer (like win key+E)
devmgmt.msc= go to device manager
msconfig = opens the System Configuration Utility
control = open control panel
iexplorer.exe = open the IE
sysdm.cpl = System Properties
eventvwr = open the Event Viewer
--
Saludos cordiales !

You might try this:

Open My Computer, right-click the C: drive, click "Create Shortcut".
It'll be placed on the desktop. In its properties, change the target to
the preferred folder, C:\Windows e.g.. Add the shortcut keys, change
the "Run:" parameter to "Maximized".

Possible workaround until you find out what makes the taskbar disappear?

Create a batch file then create a shortcut & hotkey to the .bat file.
Create a notepad file and stick the command line in it:

%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e

Save the file as a .bat file and create the shortcut to it. I don't
know if it will work but it's easy to try. Works here... but then so
does the usual hotkey method that you tried.

This sounds promising but I STILL cant get it to work!

I have created a text file called:

control_shift_Q__batch_file.bat

I have put it in the folder: C:\Docs\batch_files

It contains the line:

%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e, C:\docs

I then created a shortcut to it called:

Shortcut to control_shift_Q__batch_file.bat

Now, when I *click* on it, it does *precisely* what I require - it
opens up a Windows Explorer window defaulting to the folder "C:\docs".

But now the problem is that I cant get the hotkeys to work!

I tried right-clicking on the shortcut > properties > Short cut key >
and then holding down Control/Shift/Q and then closing.
But when I then hold down "Control/Shift/Q" from elsewhere - NOTHING
happens!

Okay so now I move the shortcut from where it was onto the Desktop.
Now it opens, but GADDAMMIT! It opens in that stupid mode that hogs
the entire screen - covinging the taskbar etc (at the bottom of my
screen)
until I hit F11.

So we're back to square one. It sort of works, but it require TWO
hotkey combination keystrokes to get what I need - in this case
"Control/Shift/Q" and then F11.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrgh - is this me being dumb? - Why is this so hard?!!

Gaddamn it!
Your batch file suggestion worked - but ONLY for a while!

That damned "entire screen" mode of Windows Explorer is back.
And I cant stop it. Whenever I call explorer, it goes into this
weird mode whereby the task bar disappears.

Sure F11 gets you back to the correct mode... but I dont want
to keep having to hit F11 every single time open my Windows Exporer
