Asuming all is up to date with xp,install xp cd,exit the info page,go to run,
type:cmd In cmd type:Sfc /Scannow When the utility is thru (15-20 min),
type:CHKDSK C: /F Agree to restart,type:EXIT Restart computer,remove cd.
