missing clip art

J

Joe Jefferis

I recently installed power point on my windows xp machine using th msoffice
pro edition.
I am trying to get some clip art type of things, they show up as thumbnails
but when I select them for insert, the clip can not be found and it says to
insert a media disk. I don't know which media cd disk to insert. A similar
computer - same operation system (Windows XP) with office pro does have the
clip art and it is has it's gif file at

C:\Program Files\MicrosoftOffice\Media\CntCD1\Animated\j0213514.gif

Where and how can I get this file for my computer? Does it come from the
WindowsXP installation, or from the Office Pro installation or the power
point installation. Maybe there is some option that needs to be set so that
PP can find this file. All help appreciated.

I have tried reinstalling Office Pro but no luck finding this animation.

Thank

Usually the prompt will tell you specifically which disc you need to
insert. Do you have a second CD with any of the Office installations?
Maybe one which has "media" somewhere on its label?

The clips would have come from the Office installation disc. Some
versions have two discs, and that could be part of the issue.

You might also want to go to Add/Remove programs and modify your
PPT/Office installation so that all clips run from your harddrive. That
should help you not be prompted for the installation CD each time you go
to insert a clip.

You may also be able to find the clip online at http://dgl.microsoft.com
That might save you some hassle this time, but I recommend running clips
from harddrive to eliminate the frustration in future.

I have exactly the same problem using both Powerpoint 2000
and Word 2000. I have done a complete install with
everything running from hard disk. The clips are
installed on my hard disk and I can see them in Clip
Gallery 5. This is happening on every PC in our
organisation that is running Windows XP Pro. It didn't
happen when using previous versions of Windows.

They're on your harddrive, and you see them in the Clip Gallery, but
when you insert them, you get a prompt that the clip can't be found and
to insert your Office install CDs?

Is that correct?

Oh, and I forgot to ask -- what happens if you check the properties for
one of those clips by right-clicking in Clip Gallery? Where does it say
the clip is located?
