Missed Scheduled Scan

Is there a way to have Windows 2000 scan your hard drive
for scheduled scan that was missed?

For example, let's say I had my virus scanning program set
up to run a virus scan of my computer every Saturday at 12
noon. However, one Saturday the computer was not on at
the scheduled time and when I rebooted to turn on the
scheduled scan did not run automatically. I had to start
it manually. Is there a way in Win 2000 to direct the
computer to automatically scan a missed scan?

Thanks,

WS

Not an operating system issue. Ask the application developer.

Presumably your virus scanner leaves a trace in the
form of a log file that indicates when the scan was last
run. You could now use the Task Scheduler to run a
batch file every Saturday night. The batch file would
compare the date stamp of the log file with the current
date stamp. If they are the same then all is well. If
they are not the same then you get the batch file to
launch a scan.

Your tasks are:
- Locate the log file.
- Find a way to launch a scan from a batch file.

This group can help you with the creation of the
batch file.
