minimize Outlook still checks mail

When I minimize Outlook, it still checks for e-mails and alerts me when I
have one. The reminder box will also appear as well. It used to not do this
but just recently started. Any ideas on why it does this, and how to correct
it?

Check if automatic schedule is enabled, it's under tools->options->Mail
setup->send / receive.

Ok disable automatic schedule, that shouldn't check mails unless you click
send / receive. Now try and check the add-ins (both in Add-in manager and
com addins.) in most of the case the conflict might be by addins if outlook
doesn't close properly. Try start->run->outlook /safe and check if
everything works fine, and let me no the addins in under
tools->options->other->Advanced options (Addin manager and comaddins.)
