Minimising MS Office software programs to the taskbar

does anyone know how I can restore my ability to minimise Word, Excel,
Outlook, Internet Explorer etc to the taskbar? I used to be be able to click
on the "-" at the top right of the software program and it would disappear
down to the taskbar, and when I wanted to swap from one program to another I
would just click on the name on the taskbar. Now when I press "-" the
program disappears into cyberspace and can only be accessed by pressing "Alt
Tab".

What have I done (or more to the point what have my kids done) to change
this and how can I get it back to how it was?

Someone somewhere must know how to help!!!
