Migrating server to new hardware processor error

I followed the process detailed in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/249694/ to
migrate a W2k PDC Server to new hardware. It included changing from a
uniprocessor ACPI to a multiprocessor ACPI, although only 1 processor is
installed. I thought I refreshed all the necessary drivers before rebooting
but I get this error:

Stop: c0000249 {UP/MP Image Mismatch}
The image Kernel32.dll has been modified for use on a uniprocessor system
but you are running it on a multiprocessor machine.
Please reinstall the image file.

Any ideas how I can get this resolved? I don't mind doing it over, if there
is a step I missed. Thanks.

That's the worst part, it won't boot at all. I can't get to recovery
console, do an in place upgrade, or anything. It's quite frustrating.

What do you mean you can't do an In-Place upgrade, or start the Recovery
Console? Is it set to the proper boot order in the BIOS?
