migrating from outlook express

I just got a new machine running XP, and when I tried migrating
Outlook Express dbx files from the old one I kept getting a message
that the file were in use by another program and couldn't be opened.
Also, when I tried importing my address book, I just got a message the
process failed, with no explanation. Can anyone help? Thanks
