How to migrate Outlook Express messages to Outlook 2010

After years of putting of migrating 15 years of messages off Outlook Express
(mainly because I still use it as a news-reader), my new Win7 PC with Office
2010 has convinced me that I need to cut the cord and make the move.

In the absence of any integrated ability to import OE messages directly into
Outlook 2010, can anyone point to a decent online guide. Most of the ones
I've found so far require either an interim step of downloading an importing
into and then exporting from LiveMail, or installing Outlook on the old PC
first. Both steps seem unnecessary and numerous other posters have suggested
those methods result in the Subject field of all old emails being erased in
the process.

Has anyone managed to complete this seemingly simple task without issue?

TIA and Merry Christmas to all!

That par doesn't explain what you intend to use as a newsreader in the Win7.

As usual for almost all things OL, slipstick has a decent
discussion/guide to the route you are talking about and some glitches.

Moving from Outlook Express to Outlook

Slipstick also provides links to pay software

.... but those are an 'impractical' cost for a one time operation and
also require having OL installed on the old computer.

I think I would go the slipstick described route.

Hi
Rather than go to Outlook, I have made the move to Thunderbird and
Lightning. The email client does a good job, Mozback does the backup and
Lightning is decent as a calendaring package.
All messages and subject matter are retained in the move to Thunderbird.
FWIW
