midi drivers wont install??

I just got a Alesis Photon x25 Midi controller to use with Reason 3.0. I've
installed the drivers for the Photon that came on the cd, but neither Reason
nor any other program i try to use is showing the controller as being
connected and useable.
I've looked in the Device Manager and the Photon shows up as 'USB Audio
Device', then i went to Sounds and Audio Devices and looked under 'Midi Music
Playback' and it wasn't there. So I'm guessing that maybe it's installing the
USB device driver but NOT the MIDI one.
I've spent the day uninstalling, reinstalling, and restarting but nothing
works.

Any thoughts? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Judging from simpler gear, I think that you would have to install
- multiple drivers
- before connecting the hardware.
But obviously the documentation you have prevails. :)

I think that the driver may consist of
- a loader part
- an audio part
- a MIDI part.

You make me think that you have not installed this last one (MIDI).

Moreover, remember that your computer may go through the installation
process if you connect the device to a "new" USB-port - but it can then copy
(the references to) the drivers without need of the installation media.

Looks like an interesting device!

Have you found out in the meantime?

I have just bought one myself, and I have *eventually* managed to get it to
work (I have only tested it as a MIDI keyboard, so far.)

I haven't been able to solve the problem on this pc (my main pc) but i have
recently tested it on one of my older
pc's and it installed perfectly. I'm happy it works and i'm finally able to
use it with Reason, but it would still be much more convenient to have it on
this pc.
I guess i'll keep trying stuff and let you know if i find out anything.
