Automatic Updates after a repair install has been broken for a
while. You have to use the Windows Update web site to get the
latest Windows installer and WU files. After this everything
works fine.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555615

I guess you didn't read the article and just had a MS Fanboy
knee-jerk reaction. Try reading the article before you reply. It
has *not* been fixed.

Better yet, why don't you do a repair install and see for yourself.

You're right. I was too quick on the trigger. I went and looked
at the bills for the last couple of repair installs I did. I had
to re-register the wu dlls before updates would work. KB555615
needs to be updated with the procedure to re-register the
appropriate dlls. There is a kb article that details this. I
don't have time to find it right now. When the updates fail there
is a link to click on for help. The procedure to re-register the
dlls can be found there.

Just what an average computer user wants to do ... but, hey, it
give repair techs more work so it couldn't be all bad, right?

Guess what? The average user does not know how to do or proly even
what, a repair install is.
Frank

Just because you don't know how to do one doesn't mean that everyone
doesn't. Course, you're a sub average computer user who can't even
install an easy-to-install distro like Ubuntu. All you're capable of
doing is lying, insulting and blustering with worn out clichés.

Ahhh...so now you've finally descended to adam'a [sic] level, huh?

Truth hurts, huh?
Where all the real nut case lunies [sic] reside.

You would know all about where loonies reside.
You've now entered the realm of sheer desperation where total
ignorance rules.

Please stop projecting; it's very unbecoming.
Enjoy yourself as I think you've finally found your true place in life.
Frank

Again, stop projecting.

More bluster, bullsh*t and lies?

No, the truth and it is obviously hard for you to take.
Are those the only reasons you're here?
Frank

No, unlike you, I am here to help people. Your only purpose here is to
reveal what an ass you are and to lie and insult people with your
childish bluster.

Once again, without even realizing it, Frank proves my points.
