Here is what I know about my problem, I can not access
the internet using Internet Explorer. In the control
panel there is a icon labeled NETWORK CONNECTIONS. When
you open the folder you have two categories that are
labeled INTERNET GATEWAY and LAN or HIGH SPEED INTERNET.
Under INTERNET GATEWAY there is an icon labeled INTERNET
CONNECTION and disabled is listed in the description.
I've uninstalled Internet Explore and reinstalled it, no
fix. I've uninstalled network card and reinstalled it, no
fix. Under properties for the LOCAL AREA CONNECTION I've
uninstalled all item listed in the GENERAL TAB section
under (This connection uses the following items) and
reinstalled all the items that were listed on another
computer that works, no fix. Under TCP/IP properties all
items were checked and corrected to match working
computer, no fix. Everything concerning my network has
been reinstalled and verified as the same with respect to
the working computer, no fix.
Both computers use Chaintech mother boards, both have
onboard LAN, both are connected to a router which intern
is attached to a cable modem.
The computer that internet explorer is not working, has a
functioning LAN system. Both can communicate with the
other for all LAN functions. It can access the internet
using MSN explorer. You can access outlook express to
check your mail. YOU CAN NOT USE INTERNET EXPLORER.
The problem began when my wife used Microsoft Update to
install required updates. And a NewDotNet whatever was
installed without her knowing it. And a thing called
Incredifind.com was also loaded for some odd reason. I
used what ever uninstall methods that were available and
I removed all references in the register using Regedit.
And removed all folders containing anything to do with
these two programs. I also scanned and removed Adware
from the system using SpyBot, no fix.
Does anyone out there have any ideas on what to do next?
Thanks
Bob
