Microsoft Works Word Processor vs. Microsoft Word?

Guest

Hello, Is Microsoft Works Word Processor the same as Microsoft Word?
I have been asked to send a document in Word format and Word Processor is
the only program I have. I am not sure if they are the same programs.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Works is not Word. You should ask the intended recipient if they will accept
a Works document.

Not the same. Works is a pared down version of Word. Typical home PC
purchasers don't need all of the Word capabilities.

I believe Word will open a Works doc, but the opposite may not be true
depending on what Word functionalities the doc contains. In any case, even
if you can find a converter to convert your Works doc to Word, it won't
convert seamlessly.

Generally speaking, no, the Works word processor is not Word. If you have
Works Suite, which includes Word, you may be using Word as the word
processor for Works. Word will open documents created by some versions of
Works, however.

Recent versions of Works can save in Word document format (or RTF) see what
is available from the save as drop down.
