Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services

How can a typical Front Page user take advantage of SharePoint Services when
you need Windows Server 2003 installed to use it? Generally, Microsoft puts
out a lite version of whatever is needed for a person to do their own
development and testing on their local machine for features like this
(example: Personal Web Server years ago...).

What are people doing to develop Web sites using the SharePoint features?
Are they developing on a machine with Windows Server 2003? Any other options?

Thanks.

WSS makes extensive use of SQL Server, thus you can only develop sharepoint
sites on Windows 2003 with sharepoint services installed.

For a "home user" this usually means editing live on the server.

Or you can try one of the free online test WSS sites
