Locked out - no Sharepoint

I uninstalled/reinstalled FP 2002 Extensions on a Windows 2003 server. We
began to have serious security issues - could no longer connect to the web
sites using FP 2003 clients.

I now get an error that "does not appear to have windows sharepoint
services" when I try and open the web sites we have worked on.

We do not want to use SharePoint services - I just want to use FrontPage
2003. Not sure how things were set up in the past.

Can I somehow remove the SharePoint requirement from the existing web sites
so we can open them using vanilla FP?

If I can't get rid of SharePoint at his point what are the minimal steps
needed to get SharePoint running again? We do not want to use any SharePoint
services beyond those need to get FP to connect again.

Please do not refer to ISP/Host to fix this - this is a local Windows Server
2003 running IIS - we have no ISP/Host - just someone who doesn't know what
they are doing - me! TIA
