is there a legetament reson for a wheel mouse to want to
access the internet? or is this just another clever spy
wear program? any advise would be appreciated! babb

When you installed the software for this mouse, you were probably offered
the option of checking for updates on a regular basis, usually once a week.

Neither my Microsoft Wheel Mouse nor Microsoft Multimedia Keyboard
installation programs ask if I wanted to look for updates over the
Internet but they do ask "Do you want to register over the Internet,
now?"

When I first purchased the programs 12 months ago I registered them with
Microsoft over the Internet but I don't want to keep registering them
every time I re-install XP Pro and my various software installations.
But I find when doing new installs that despite saying "No" they try and
connect to the Internet anyway [to register again?]

I use ZoneAlarm Pro and automatically block them both the first time
they ask and I'm never bothered again.
