Microsoft Update... Doesnt work?

Hi, I just had to do a long repair process for my Windows XP Home edition,
and now I have everything back and running... Just about.

I am trying to get to the Microsoft Update web page, do re-download security
patches and everything that was lost in the re-install. However, whenever I
try to open Microsoft Update, The page doesnt load, and the Internet locks
up. Please help!
