problems with new motherboard saveas doesnt work & updates dont d/

i have a new motherboard for windows xp home edition

the old one worked perfectly until its demise

things the new motherboard doesnt do

when using save as only one file type shows .btm regardless of what i am
saving...cant save animated gif files......they appear as btm files and
photos appear as bitmap also

the automatic update feature does not work...receive error message cannot
download updates....so i have 87 updates that wont download

can someone enlighten me please

Not really - because a new motherboard would not have an effect like that on
your software.
The .btm file extension is related to 4DOS 'Batch To Memory' Batch files...

Are you using the new motherboard with the old Windows installation or did
you rebuild it for the new motherboard. Did you load the motherboard's
chipset drivers.

At best a repair install will be required. At worst a complete rebuild.
