Microsoft made a BIG mistake !!
Microsoft sold Volume License Windows XP that activation not required, to
Shanghai Government an year ago !!
Now Shanghai Government Volume License XP Pro SP2 has become the official
Windows of 2 billion Chinese !!

Every Chinese Windows XP found on website for download, or at street vendor,
must be Shanghai Government's Volume License copy !!

They make a little bit more money that way than having pirated copies of
Microsoft products being made in Chinese prisons.

It's a good way of fending off free or very cheap Linux distros as a
potential competitor. Could of been worse, they could have gone Mac.

Not that I'm cynical or anything, but MS wouldn't have done that on
purpose,
