MICROSOFT OUTLOOK NOT FUNCTIONING

I purchased a Dell computer at the end of September,
2003. Overall, I am very satisfied with the computer and
my "Earthlink" 6-month trial. However, I have never been
able to send or receive e-mail using OUtlook. Outlook
Express and TotalAccess work with no problems. I have e-
mailed back and forth with Earthlink every day for about
the past week. They have suggested different changes to
various settings--incoming serving (POP3, outgoing server
(SMTP), user name, password, etc.
When I am in Outlook and I click "send/receive", the error
message is "The operation failed. AN object could not be
found."
It allows me to address an e-mail, type the message,
hit "send". The message goes to my outbox, and it never
leaves the outbox.
Can anyone offer any advice/help?
Thanks so much!

hi Ania
There are two thoughts that I have had about this, not
sure if you have tried either of them yet.

1) try running the detect and repair option from within
Microsoft Outlook, this can be done by going to the Help
Option and selecting "Detect and Repair".

2) If the above doesnt work then you might be able to try
and re-install outlook if you have been given the cd to do
this, might be worth removing it via Add/Remove programs
in Control panel (start bar, settings, Control Panel). A
bit drastic I know but it sounds as though something hasnt
installed correctly when the computer was set up in the
first place.

Hope this helps
