First, would appreciate if you DON'T SHOUT. Much nicer to write on
normal upper and lower case.

The Office CD that you have is an "upgrade" version. It was sold on the
condition that you have a previous "qualifying product".

If you have a previous version, then dig out that CD and I *think* if
you point the new install program to look on the CD directly, you don't
have to re-install the older program first. I can't remember those details.

If you don't have a previous version, then return this Upgrade CD to the
vendor from whom you purchased it and purchase instead the full version
of Office.

Greetings --

First of all, please unstick your CapsLock key. Posting in all
caps, as you have done, is the Usenet equivalent of shouting, and is
considered very rude. More importantly, posting in all caps makes the
post very hard to read, further reducing your chances of getting help.

That specific error means that you are trying to use an Office 2K
Upgrade CD. In order to qualify for use of the upgrade version, there
needs to be a license for an older version of Office already installed
upon (or the its installation media readily available) the computer.

You are apparently trying to use an upgrade version of Office
when you don't own a previous version. You can't do that, as the
message is telling you.

If you don't own a previous version, you'll need to buy a full
version of Office instead of the upgrade.
