icons changed

Hi all,

The icons for the files and the applications, including MS word, excel, etc, on
my computer became the strange appearance after I used another user name to
log on my computer. But the files/applications can still be opened normally.

I have tried a few methods, like to delete the IconCache.db, but useless. Can
any experts here conduct me to fix this problem?

My system is Win XP professional pack 2.

Thank you in advance.

Perhaps you could describe "the strange appearance" to us. That would help
us help you.

I'm with Malke, changed to what?

If per chance, in which I doubt --- the Office programs look as an older
version:

Manual Fix:

Start/Run/Regedit and navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics

In the right pane, double click on 'Shell Icon BPP' and set the value to
16

Automated fix see:

Thank you for your attention, Kelly and Malke.

The icons for all MS office applications, like Word,Excel, and some other
applications and the files associated with them now become the same white
icons. They looks like unassociated with any programs, but they can be opened
as usual.

I can offer the serccn print, but I don't know how to past it here or send
to you.

Best reagrds,

Hi Bob,

I can't find that tool. Can you show me the path please? Thanks.

Open any Office program (Word, Access, Excel...) then on the menu click
help and you should see detect and repair.
