Can't install above. The installation wizard halts and an error message pops
up telling me that I have to uninstall any previous versions before Office
2007 can be installed. I don't understand because I have used the add/remove
tool to uninstall Office 2000. Could it be that references to Office 2000
still remains in the registry and this is the cause of the problem? Is is it
safe to search out the references by using regedit and then simply delete
them?

You can install the trial but if you are trying to install the beta I think
that has expired.

Considering the gold version has been out for almost a year, why would
anyone be trying to install a BETA in the first place?

As the RTM version has been out almost a year, why are you trying to install
a BETA in the first place?

Recheck Add and Remove Program listing - look for items such as "Business
Manager", "front Page" and so forth - at times Office will listed installed
items separately fro the gener term "Office 2000".
