Microsoft .NET Framework Message

Hi,

When I rebooted my computer a short while ago, I received a Microsoft
Message. I believe it has to do with a problem that I'm having with a new
Hewlett Package OfficeJet All-In-One Printer that I bought and connected a
couple of weeks ago. I receive Microsoft Installation messages for certain
functions of the printer. First it was TrayApp and then it was for the fax.
The TrayApp message stopped appearing but Microsoft Installation for the fax
continued to appear. When I put the disk in the CD ROM drive, it would
obtain the information that it needed and my boot-up would continue. This
last time, I received this message from Microsoft Installer (clicking
continue or close window box didn't work, nor did clicking on Restart. I had
to press the reset button on my tower):

"Microsoft Installer

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just in time (JIT) debugging, the config file for this
application or machine (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the machine
rather than being handled by this dialog."

When I clicked on the reset button on my tower, my pc booted up with no
problem. I still had the HP Printer disk in my CD ROM drive at the time.

I have Windows XP Pro SP2

I understand that the message is telling me to enable JIT debugger but I
have no idea how to do it. I never alter my program/registry settings
because I would reduce my pc to a pile of scrap metal within 1/2 hour. I
already have Dr. Watson Just In Time Debugger enabled. If you would give me
extremely detailed step-by-step instructions on what I need to do, I would
greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance . . . Denise

This is the important piece of info right here as it is the exact location
that caused the exception. This is in the HP software so you need to
contact HP support and report the problem to them so they can help you
resolve. They will want the complete list of information that was reported
that you put in your message.

No, the message is telling you that the HP software threw an exception.
From your standpoint that's all you need to know. The developers of the
software would have an appropriate debugger on their development machines to
allow them to debug this more. All you need to do is to get in touch with
HP support and report the problem to them so they can help get this
resolved.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just in time (JIT) debugging, the config file for this
application or machine (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

If you would give
me
extremely detailed step-by-step instructions on what I need to do, I would
greatly appreciate it.

Thanks Tom, I'll do that.

About 2 weeks ago, I had the TrayApp problem. I'd had the printer for
only a couple of weeks but because of the Christmas season, I didn't have
time to call HP. When I did, the instruction he gave me to install
TrayApp was to place the installation CD in my CD ROM drive and click on
TrayApp. Nothing happened. He then asked me to copy the contents of the
disk to my hard drive and to click on TrayApp, but again nothing
happened. Then, for some reason, I stopped getting the TrayApp message
and started to get a message that the fax program needed to be installed.
Because the pc is still under warranty, HP sent me a new installation
disk that contained all of the updates and I installed it this past
weekend. At first, I continued to get the message to insert the CD into
the CD ROM drive in order to install the fax program and, again, that
resolved the issue. But the last time I rebooted last night, I got the
message that I pasted into my first post.

I appreciate you pointing me in the right direction. :)

Make sure you point out to them that you have installed IE7.

Yes, I installed IE7 a month or so ago, a few weejs before I bought the
new
printer.

That's what I figured. A lot of people have been having problems with the
combination of IE7 and HP. Luckily, my HP1200 is now working. You will
probably have to go to the HP website to get things straightened out.
Depending on your HP product, the latest drivers for it may work with IE7.
Otherwise see MVP Sandi's site

Hi Tom,

I had a live chat session with one of the techs at Hewlett Packard. I was
given two guidelines to follow. The first guideline was to rid all files in
my computer that were associated with printers and faxes. The first part of
the guide was to uninstall the software for the printer. The second part
required registry and other changes/deletions:

"C. Windows Registry:
====================

Before modifying registry, take a backup of it.

1. Click Start and click on Run.
2. Type Regedit and from File menu, click on Export Registry.
3. Select "All" option for backing up every key of registry.
4. Give a destination file (say Regbackup) and save it on to the Desktop.
5. Now, click "+" beside HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM
6. Click "+" beside CurrentControlSet
7. Click "+" beside Control
8. Click "+" beside Print
9. Click "+" beside Environments
10. Click "+" beside Windows NT x86
11. Click "+" beside Drivers
12. Under this key, there will be the keys Version-2 and Version-3 (some may
be absent, which is normal)
13. Click on each Version key to find contents in the right-window pane.
14. Delete all the sub-keys inside Version-2 and Version-3, but not these
keys themselves.
15. From File menu, click exit.

D. Deleting Folders:
====================
1. Click Start, Run and type "cmd" (without quotes).
2. Key-in the following commands:

net stop spooler
net start spooler

3. Type exit.
4. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to:

%systemroot%\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86

NOTE: %systemroot% is usually C:\Windows, but it might be "winnt" or
something else; this is set when the OS is installed.

5. Inside w32x86, there will be folders with the names 2 and 3 (some may be
absent, which is normal)
6. Delete all of the files and sub-folders in each of the 2 and 3 folders,
but not the folders themselves.
7. Inside w32x86, there may be other folders with names starting with
"hewlett_packard", "hphp" or something else; delete these folders also.
8. Restart the print spooler (as in 2nd step, above)
9. Restart the computer.

At this point, the system should be pretty well back to the way it was
before any printers were installed. The printing subsystem is then "clean"
and ready for printers to be added using printer drivers. Install the
all-in-one software, now."

I followed the directions to a T but it's too early to tell whether or not
I'll have the same problem.

I'm having a different problem since I made the changes. I constantly get
Windows Explorer messages. "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and
needs to close . . ." More information showed:

Error signature
AppName: explorer.exe
AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180
ModName: mpeg2dmx.ax
ModVer: 2.0.80.30327
Offset 0000d823

Viewing technical information about the error report shows:

Exception Information
Code:0xc0000005
Flags:0x00000000034ed823

System Information
Windows NT 5.1 Build: 2600 (I HAVE WINDOWS XP SP2 INSTALLED)
CPU Vendor Code: 68747541 - 69746E65 - 4444D4163
CPU Version: 00000631
CPU Feature Code: 0183F9FF
CPU AMD Feature Code: C1C7F9FF

And then there approximately 400 Modules and thousands of lines of threads.
I get these messages mainly when I'm viewing a video file. I've tried
several different video players and I have the same problem with all of them.

Could the changes that I made for my printer have caused damage to my video
programs or something more important, such as my CPU?

Denise
