Microsoft .NET Framework error message

I started gertting a problem today and have no idea what I did to begin
getting the error messages I am now getting. When I boot my computer, an
installer begins trying to install a "DocumentViewer". The installer tells me
that I need to insert a disk or browse to where the info is on the computer.
First, I dont know what this DocumentViewer is. Second, when I cancel the
installation, an error message comes up from Microsft .NET Framework with the
information at the bottom of this message.
Can anyone tell me what it is and what I need to install? I tried installing
..NET 1.1 redistributeable, but that apparently didnt help. Wiht this error
message, I can click details to get the following info, or continue...
Continue just gives me the same error message..."An unhandled exception has
occured in a component in your application. Click continue and the
application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. Object instance
not set to an instance of an object."

You can just remove that viewer, you have other apps that can read those
documents. Download this utility, and look for the name "Document Viewer" on
the list, and remove it.

I could tell you all about this .NET setup bug if you were interested, but I
would guess you are only wanting to get rid of the error.

Hi there. I'm from Portugal, so I'm sorry if I misspell something.
I have the exact same problem. Except for the part that it isn't a Document
Viewer but some Photo Gallery. Are HP applications on the loose? lol joking.
What makes them pop out like this one day, when it was all fine the day
before? I just rebooted my HP Pavillion (I do it sometimes, when it starts
getting slow after too much hibernations :x) and this window from .NET
Framework suddenly gets stuck to my screen like in Semper Fi 's discription.

I know this thread is old, but it was the only one remotely official I could
find. When this started I went to check my Windows Updates, just in case I
had missed one. I must say I didn't became surprised when I saw I had some
..NET Framework updates with higher versions that 1.1 installed. And that very
same one was there too.

I'm not too much pissed off. I just killed the process and all returned to
normal. Didn't restarted the laptop again, though. lol I'm a Computer
Engineering student, and my laptop is literally my life, so I'm very curious
to know what triggered this. I'll do like Mark Ferguson said, and uninstall
the thing. But it's sad that's is the only solution.

I don't know what post you are replying to since you didn't quote anything
to establish the context. Unfortunately, .Net framework errors are often
solved by uninstalling old versions, turning off your antivirus program and
reinstalling, restarting as necessary.
