Microsoft Internet Explorer

I am having difficulties determining what is wrong with
Microsoft Internet Explorer on my computer. I keep
getting a error message stating "Microsoft Internet
Explorer has encountered a error and must be shut down, if
you are in the middle of something it will probably be
lost, sorry for the inconvenience". It further asks if I
would like to send a Error Report, which is somewhat
preplexing as it is not accessing the internet in the
first place. I rebooted the computer several times this
did not fix the problem. I contacted my father, a
computer wiz, he suggested reloading the operating
system. I had Windows 98 on my computer, but had
purchased Windows XP so decided to load it. Loading the
new operating system did not correct the problem. I am
stumped. Please help!

I'm having the same problem. I'm runing windows xp home
edition. I've restarted the computer, and the problem
still exists. I would restore the computer to an earlier
date and it worked fine for like 2 days. This went on for
a few weeks. I restored my pc to its original factory
condition last week. The problem was gone for 3 days, and
now I'm having the same problem again. I've run my norton
antivirus and found no viruses. If anyone can help, plz
inform us of what to do.
