I have a clean OEM installation of Vista Home Premium.

In this months garbage updates appears this one for me:

Cumulative Security Update for Outlook Express for Windows Vista (KB929123)

Formatted, clean install, no dual boot; got it!

I think Tiberius is RIGHT

The full title for that update is (MS07-034):
Cumulative Security Update for Outlook Express and Windows Mail (929123)

The name was truncated. There are separate downloads for each platform.
To see all the info on an update, right click it, view details, click on the
supplied link, and read either the security bulletin or the referenced KB
article.

Hey Rock, I'm telling you what was waiting to be downloaded, the EXACT words.

(MS07-034) has been around for a couple of years in XP
You know it, and I know it.
This is Vista and Windows Mail
NOT XP and Outlook Express

And who wastes their time right-clicking on a security update.
We are supposed to trust the "M", billy boy.

I thought you were one of the more moderate MVPs, but I was wrong!

No matter what you say it "really" is, the wording that comes through to
customers computers in "View available updates" is what I said.

Anyone that sets their computer updates on auto download and install is
insane.

And that is what the average person relies on from Microsoft.

Microsoft seems to have the attitude of "So what, who cares; we've got their
money, let them figure it out"

Mick,

It is a typographical error related to the fact that the internal team at
Microsoft responsible or servicing (the internal phase used to refer to
writing patches and service packs) are updating the patches for Windows XP's
Outlook Express AND Windows Vista Windows Mail.
The vulnerability fixed is present across multiple platforms and the 2
codebases are very similar.
The person responsible for building the information package for the update
site has inadvertently referred to both products as Outlook Express.
The packs is valid for installation on your Vista system

Can we keep racial comments out of the group please?
Some people in this group are offensive enough without a thread starting
on race.

It's not a race but a nationality :) Last I checked, both the USA and
the UK have the same assortment of races.

Hey Rock, I'm telling you what was waiting to be downloaded, the EXACT
words.

I know what it said. I saw it. That security bulletin applies to multiple
platforms, as most do. The title was truncated. It's not a major deal.

Yes and that particular bulletin applies to mulitple platforms.
And who wastes their time right-clicking on a security update.
We are supposed to trust the "M", billy boy.

Anyone who has a question about an update or wants to see the details. I do
it on every update to see if it's needed for that particular system.
I thought you were one of the more moderate MVPs, but I was wrong!

You're upset because I explained what the upate was about? Sorry I don't
get the connection here.
